Samsung announces Pro versions of Galaxy Note and Galaxy Tab tablets

Samsung has announced a bunch of Pro versions of Galaxy Note and Galaxy Tab tablets in CES 2014.

Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2
The Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 is the latest flagship tablet from Samsung. However the specs are quite similar to the Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition).


Here's the specs of the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2:
- 12.2" WQXGA Super Clear LCD display
- 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor (LTE)/ 1.9 GHz quad-core + 1.3 GHz quad-core Exynos 5 octa-core processor (3G)
- 3 GB of RAM
- 32/64 GB internal storage, microSD card slot up to 64 GB
- 8 MP camera with LED flash
- 1080p@60fps video recording (30fps for Exynos)
- 2 MP front camera
- 9,500 mAh battery

Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 leaks in a press render

It seems that there will be a new Galaxy Tab series tablet joining the Samsung tablet family. @evleaks has uploaded a press render of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4.



As you can see from the render above, the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 packs the same design language as the Galaxy Note 3 and can be say as smaller version of Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition). It has the same leather back and the tablet is quite boxy.

Samsung Galaxy Camera 2 goes official

Samsung has just made the Galaxy Camera 2 official, the second generation Galaxy Camera has brought some upgrade includes new design, faster processor, more RAM and storage, newer Android version and an additional NFC connectivity.


It seems that Samsung didn't really makes a huge upgrade on the new Galaxy Camera, it is still able to shoot 1080p@30fps, 720p@60fps and 512p@120fps videos.

The Galaxy Camera 2 has a faster quad-core processor which is clocked at 1.6 GHz and it has 2 GB RAM alongside with 8 GB internal storage. However according to Samsung, there are only 2.8 GB user available out of 8 GB total storage. User can still expand it via microSD card up to 64 GB.

Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 will get Android 4.4 KitKat next month

French carrier SFR has released details on the Android 4.4 KitKat update for Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3. According to them, both devices will be getting the update next month or early February next year.



As the update news is for carrier devices, you can expect that global roll out might coming earlier than it. So far Samsung hasn't revealed any news regarding the firmware update timeline to its devices.

Samsung Galaxy Core gets Advance upgrade version

Samsung has announced an advance version of Galaxy Core. The Samsung Galaxy Core Advance has a similar design as previous Galaxy Core series but comes with better specs.


Rocking the device is a 4.7" WVGA TFT display, 1.2 GHz dual-core processor with 1 GB of RAM and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. It has 8 GB  internal storage with expandable microSD card slot.

Samsung to update the entry-level smartphones to KitKat

We already know that Samsung will update its high-end devices to Android KitKat. Samsung not only plan to update the high-end devices, the manufacturer is also considering to bring the KitKat update to its entry-level smartphones.



A leaked document shows that Samsung is investigating the Galaxy S4 mini, Galaxy S III mini, Galaxy Ace 3, Galaxy S Advance, Galaxy Ace 2, Galaxy Core, Galaxy Fame and Galaxy Fresh to see whether they are capable of running KitKat smoothly.

Samsung unveils the Galaxy Grand 2

Samsung has quietly announced the next generation of the Galaxy Grand - Samsung Galaxy Grand 2. Just as usual, the second generation of Galaxy Grand has a bigger display, higher screen resolution, faster processor and more.

The Galaxy Grand 2 has bigger 5.25" display with 720p HD resolution. It is powered by 1.2 GHz quad-core processor with 1.5 GB of RAM. While the chipset is unknown, there's a probability that it is powered by Snapdragon 200 chipset. Just as its predecessor, the Galaxy Grand 2 is also a dual-SIM capability handset.

Android 4.4 KitKat update schedule for Samsung Galaxy devices leak

Samsung hasn't announced any news on Android 4.4 KitKat update, but there's a leaked schedule shows which Galaxy devices will get the Android 4.4 KitKat update first.



As you can see, the Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II will get the update on next year. The Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 will be the first two devices to taste chocolate on January 2014, while the Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II will get the update on March or April 2014.

Samsung pauses the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update to Galaxy S III

Two weeks ago Samsung started rolling out the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update to the Galaxy S III. The update does bring some nice features such as support for the Galaxy Gear smartwatch, but many users complaint that the update brought a lot of issues to the Galaxy S III.



According to some users, the update made the Galaxy S III becomes unresponsive on different occasions, crashing and being incapable of proper multi-tasking due to poor RAM manager, stuttering on music playback and even battery drain.

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for Galaxy Note II available in service centers

Samsung has recently rolled out the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update to the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S III users, the next device that would receive the update is Galaxy Note II for sure. It seems the Galaxy Note II will no longer stuck at Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean as Samsung's service centers already have access to the update, an user from India has updated his Galaxy Note II from a local service center.

The build number of the firmware is N7100XXUEMJ9, while the build date is 31st of October, showing that the final version of the update that will roll out officially.

Previously I've posted that the Galaxy S4 LTE and 3G have receive the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update. Here's a good news to Malaysian, the update is now available in Malaysia. If you checked your phone for software update rapidly, I guess you already update your Galaxy S4 to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

The update weighs 673.97 MB, so make sure you connect to Wi-Fi if you're going to update your phone because it uses up your data a lot.

Samsung rolls out Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update to the Galaxy S III

Samsung has finally rolled out the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update to the Galaxy S III. The update is now available in Vodafone Ireland Galaxy S III units, but we're sure that it will be available worldwide in these coming weeks.

The update has brings several improvements and supports to the Galaxy S III, but some features still missing when compared to Galaxy S4 build.

The size of the update is about 932 MB big, do make sure your Galaxy S III have enough space before you update it to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) arriving Malaysia on 7th of November

The new Samsung flagship tablet is coming to Malaysia - Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition). Samsung Malaysia has confirmed that the tablet will be available from 7th of November at a retail price of RM 2,299.



The variant that will be available in Malaysia is 16 GB LTE variant, which means the tablet is powered by 2.3 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with 3 GB of RAM.

Samsung working on low-cost Galaxy S4 Active?

Samsung Galaxy S4 Active was the rugged version of the Galaxy S4, it is the first Samsung's waterproof smartphone that enters Malaysian market. Despite the upgrade version of Galaxy S4 Active with Snapdragon 800 SoC, it seems that Samsung is also working on a lower-cost Galaxy S4 Active.

From the image above, you can see that the lower-cost Galaxy S4 Active looks identical to the original Galaxy S4 Active. It has the same three hardware navigation buttons - Menu, Home and Back buttons. The low-cost Galaxy S4 Active carries with the model number of GT-I8580.

The software update has just rolled out, so it may not available in your country at the moment but don't worry it will arrive very soon. The changes and improvements are almost same as the LTE variant except for TRIM support, which makes the device much faster.

Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE receives official Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update

Samsung has finally update the Galaxy S4 to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, but it is only available in the LTE variant (GT-I9505).

The update is currently available in Germany while other country will be getting the update soon. According to SamMobile, the update has increased the Antutu Benchmark score from 25-26K to 29-30K.

It seems that Samsung really want to increase its market shares in Malaysian market, the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Tab 3 series tablets are now available in Malaysia. Not only the new high-end products are now available in Malaysia, there are new mid-range device and entry-level device are now available in Malaysia too.

The Samsung Galaxy Ace 3 LTE was announced few months ago, and it's finally available in Malaysia though the previous generation - Galaxy Ace 2 did not make its appearance in Malaysia.

The Galaxy Ace 3 LTE is priced at RM 799. It has a 4" WVGA (480 x 800 pixels) TFT display, 1.2 GHz dual-core Broadcom BCM21664 processor, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB expandable storage, 5 MP camera, 720p HD video recording, VGA front camera, 1,800 mAh battery, NFC and LTE connectivity and runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. It is available in black and white colours.
